The move has been taken following an analysis which indicated the decrease in demand for the kilowatt turbines in the coming years.
The company is estimating that the termination of the turbine production at the Hohhot factory will save €10m annually.
Vestas will also shut down the production of the V52-850 kW and V60-850 kW turbines.
The cost of closing the factory is covered by the 2012 guidance for special items of €50m to €100m.
Vestas will deliver all its current and ongoing commitments and deals for the kilowatt turbines considering the customers’ needs and the company’s profits.
