Under the terms of the contract, the company will provide six medium-voltage variable-speed drive systems, including synchronous 2-pole motors rated at 20MW and 3,600 revolutions per minute.
It will also supply two medium-voltage variable-speed drive systems, including 3.2MW induction motors, which will be installed for processing the LNG.
The equipment will transmit power to the onshore dual train LNG processing facility and control the compressors, which will liquefy gas collected from the offshore field.
ABB Power Products Division head Bernhard Jucker said, "ABB technologies will facilitate reliable and efficient power supply for this new and significant LNG facility."
A power supply solution for the LNG processing facility in addition to distribution transformers, medium-voltage switchgear, low-voltage motor control centers (MCC), and a power distribution monitoring and control system will be supplied.
A joint venture between INPEX (operator), Total, Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas and Toho Gas is developing the Ichthys LNG project.
Gas from the Ichthys field project will undergo preliminary processing offshore to remove water and extract condensate.
It will then be exported to onshore processing facilities in Darwin through an 889km subsea pipeline.
The project will produce 8.4 million tons of LNG and 1.6 million tons of LPG a year, and will have a peak rate of 100,000 barrels of condensate a day.
