The 16/2-13 well situated 2.5km north east of the discovery well 16/2-6 is being spud to determine the top reservoir, the quality and thickness of the reservoir, and oil water contact in the part of the Johan Sverdrup field.
Lundin Norway will use a semi submersible drilling rig called the Transocean Arctic to spud the well to a planned total depth of 2,150m.
The drilling program is expected to take about 45 days to complete.
Lundin Petroleum is the operator of production licence PL501 with 40% interest, Statoil Petroleum has 40% and Maersk Oil Norway owns 20%.
