Under the terms of the contract, the program began in last month with an opportunity to extend to 50MW in two years’ time.
The program allows New Zealand-based Genesis Energy customers to receive payments for responding to demand response dispatches as well as real-time access to their energy data.
In addition, utilization of demand response during times of peak demand will help the company lower overall electricity prices and create a valuable revenue stream for its participating customers.
