The contract will be delivered for DPS Company, an equal joint venture between APA Group and AGL Energy, which is building the project at an estimated cost of $500m ($524mm).

As per the terms of the contract, the scope of work for KBR will include provision of safety services, cost, site construction and schedule supervision at the project location.

The company will also supervise the engineering, procurement, and construction contractors for the gas-fired power station.

Electricity generated by the combined-cycle gas turbine power station will be used by Xstrata’s MIM copper mine.

Construction of the plant is expected to be complete by mid-2014.
