The study involves reviewing the two designs of VVER rectors and utilizing equipment already purchased Kosloduy NPP – New Build, the operator of the power project.

It will also study Westinghouse’s instrumentation and control systems, fuel and a Toshiba turbine generator, and the construction and operation of a pressurized water reactor with a capacity of 1000-1200MW design.

In addition, the scope of study includes evaluation of the site, reuse of existing infrastructures and facilities, radioactive waste and spent fuel management, licensing, and local economic aspects.

Westinghouse president Europe, Middle East and Africa Yves Brachet said the company is assessing the possibility of bringing in its advanced instrumentation and control systems, and fuel products for VVER reactor designs.

"Our 20 years experience with the operating units at Kozloduy and our continued presence on site to provide world-class assistance places us in a unique position to provide the customer with a solution to complete a VVER-designed plant," Brachet added.
