The company has been supporting the Botswana Power Corporation (BPC), the national electric utility, through the provision of its turnkey diesel power modules since late 2009.
APR was appointed to counteract electricity shortages driven by demand growth and supply constraints in the Southern Africa region.
APR Energy chief executive officer John Campion said the renewal reflects the company’s leading industry position in the region with 800MW of installed power capacity on the continent.
”Our 70MW facility in Francistown has been a key component of Botswana’s power generation infrastructure for four years, filling a critical gap in the country’s drive toward permanent energy sufficiency,” Campion added.
APR Energy supplies power generation solutions to customers and communities worldwide, with focus on Africa, the Americas, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East.
