As part of the deal, the company will provide project management consultancy (PMC) services for the refinery to be built within the Petkim Petrokimya (PETKIM) at Aliaga in the country.
Foster Wheeler said that the new refinery is designed to process different crude oils such as Urals, Azeri Light and Kirkuk, with a processing capacity of 10 million tons of crude oil per year.
The plant, which is expected to start operations in 2017, will produce a range of products such as jet fuel, diesel, naphtha, petroleum coke and liquid petroleum gases.
Foster Wheeler Global E&C Group CEO Roberto Penno said the company will play a key role in this strategic investment in Turkey.
"We believe that our proven project management and refining capabilities, our experience in executing mega-projects, and our long-established operation in Turkey were all instrumental in our success in winning this contract," Penno added.
