The value of the contract was not disclosed.
Under the contract terms, SNC-Lavalin will be responsible for the integration and management of four process packages and also for the construction of roads, camps, utilities, power distribution and other infrastructure essentials.
SNC-Lavalin Group executive vice-president Feroz Ashraf said the company will successfully bring about the project.
"This award builds on our long-standing relationship with AMSA, and reflects their continuing confidence in our ability to carry out projects for them."
The project located in Antofagasta region will have processing facilities that can use crushing, leaching, solvent extraction and electrowinning technologies to produce about 80,000 tons of copper annually.
The company will start the engineering work immediately while the initial infrastructure work at the site has already begun.
SNC-Lavalin is planning to finish the mechanical work in the third quarter of 2014.
