The solar energy company has developed and financed the installation, while the solar panels and EPC services are provided by the project’s co-developer Siliken.
The fixed-tilt solar project, which is located at Santa Maria Wastewater Treatment Plant in Ramona, uses a total of 2,156 Siliken panels.
Annual energy output of 919,000kWh will be used to run the plant itself, the company said. The installation is expected to go online by the end of September 2012.
Enfinity chief development officer Bob Hopper said the partnership between Enfinity, Siliken and the Ramona Municipal Water District resulted in bringing the project to fruition.
"Our experience with similar projects – for example the City of Reno municipal installation – means that we can accelerate the pace of development and construction and bring the cost saving benefits of solar energy to Ramona’s ratepayers more quickly," Hopper said.
Siliken USA vice president and general manager Scott Sporrer said, "This project is a clear demonstration of solar’s value in our clean energy economy."
The Ramona water district provides water, sewer, recycled water, fire protection, emergency medical services and park services to the local community.
