Under the contract, Valard and another Quanta company McGregor Construction will install approximately 101km of 240kV double circuit alternating current (AC) transmission line in Conklin and Lac La Biche, Alberta, Canada.
Quanta Services president and CEO Jim O’Neil said "The Christina Lake Area Development transmission project will facilitate the delivery of electricity to meet increasing industrial demand for power in Alberta upon completion."
"This project is located in a remote area of the province and will be constructed on challenging terrain,” O’Neil added.
Specifically, Valarad will be responsible for all construction aspects of the project, including right of way clearing, access and reclamation, environmental monitoring, tower assembly and erection and conductor stringing.
The project is expected to complete during the first quarter of 2015.
