The two new wind farms will be built in Jämtland and Västernorrland counties, northeast of Östersund in mid/northern Sweden and are expected to produce an average of 1090GWh annually.
The Björkhöjden wind farm will have an installed capacity of 270MW and will start operations in two stages in 2014 and 2015 while the Ögonfägnaden wind farm with its 99MW will be completed as early as 2014.
Both wind farms will employ about 246 turbines combined, each with a capacity of 3MW.
Statkraft president and CEO Christian Rynning-Tønnesen remarked that the wind farms establish a platform for profitable wind power production while reducing carbon emissions.
Statkraft already owns and operates wind farms in Norway, Sweden and the UK, and has a number of wind power projects under development.
