The two companies are joint and equal owners of the project with the government of Western Australia (WA) providing A$20m ($20.6m) for its development.

Photovoltaic panels manufacturer First Solar deployed 150,000 of its modules at the farm besides providing engineering, procurement and construction services.

First Solar will also handle the operations and maintenance of the project for the next 15 years.

Verve Energy CEO Jason Waters remarked that the partners are evaluating the possibility of expanding the plant to up to 40MW to meet future energy demands.

GE Energy Financial Services managing director Matt O’Connor added, "We see incredible investment opportunities in Australia and look forward to expanding on this successful project and applying our expertise to help the country’s renewable energy market grow."
