The approval follows the confirmation by the Australian Government Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities that the proposed redevelopment requires no further assessment.
Crocodile Gold can now proceed with the geotechnical, metallurgical and hydro-geological drilling required to optimize and finalize pit slope design, mine sequencing, before the installation of the monitoring wells that are required for mining activities to commence.
Commenting on the approval Crocodile Gold general manager of Northern Territory operations Peter Crooks remarked that the project is a reflection of the company’s commitment to work together with its stakeholders in the region.
Over the next three months the company is expected to re-submit its mine management plant beside completing a detailed mining design with ore contribution to commence in the middle of 2013.
