Valued at a combined $20m, the contract requires the company to assemble and deliver canisters and HSMs to help the companies safely store used nuclear fuel.

Canisters for the second contract are scheduled to be supplied by the company’s North-Carolina based manufacturer, Columbiana Hi Tech.

Arvea US senior vice president Mike McMahon said, ”We are pleased to provide our customers with our high-performance, industry-proven canisters and storage modules.”

The NUHOMS canisters are designed for safe storage of used fuel assemblies from both pressurized water reactors (PWR) and boiling water reactors.

Around 1,250 used nuclear fuel systems has been sold to date by the company worldwide, which includes nearly 900 systems already in use in the US.

The canisters and HSMs are scheduled to be delivered starting in 2015.
