The project is located in the northern part of Vancouver Island near Port McNeill, British Columbia.

Brookfield Renewable and its partner Namgis First Nation are currently developing the project.

The project is expected to begin commercial operations in 2014 and supply electricity to BC Hydro under a 40-year electricity purchase agreement.

Brookfield Renewable chief financial officer Sachin Shah stated, "This represents a significant milestone in the development of the Kokish River facility and we appreciate the support of all our bondholders in the long term financing of this high-quality hydropower project."

The project is expected to generate clean renewable energy equivalent to power nearly 13,000 homes.

The 41-year term bonds bear an interest rate of 4.45%.
