Sterling Services is one among the local companies hoping to secure a contract to supply material to the UK’s Hinkley Point C project.
EDF Energy said it has already awarded £61m worth of contracts across the south west, of which about £25m contracts are going to firms in Somerset.
Somerset Chamber of Commerce chief executive Rupert Cox said, "We’re continuing to work directly with local firms to explain the varied opportunities and give them some guidance on the likely requirements and procurement process."
EDF Energy lead supply chain engagement manager Chris Squires commented, "Local firms could benefit both in the construction phase, as well as the 60 year operational life of the proposed station."
The proposed Hinkley Point C power plant is expected to provide over 900 permanent jobs once operational, in addition to providing about 25,000 jobs over the construction period.
