LS Energia said it has chosen GE’s TM2500+ solution after the firm was awarded a contract by ENE to supply 120MW of on-site capacity to help enhance grid reliability.
The TM2500+ is capable of providing generating capacity of up to 31MW and it could be used to provide utilities with a ‘baseload bridge’ to support permanent power installations, among others.
LSE Africa president Nyembo Ilunga said, "GE’s TM2500+ systems offer the right combination of efficiency and reliability needed to help ENE reduce its fuel costs and increase the reliability of grid service in order to support continued economic growth in Angola."
Under the latest contract, which is GE’s third TM2500+ power project in Angola, GE is expected to deliver the units to LSE starting from December 2012.
