The unit 2 was synchronized about 15 hours ahead of schedule, following a 12-day planned preventive maintenance shutdown which began on 29 October 2012.
The company said unit 1, which underwent a scheduled preventive maintenance shutdown starting from 6 October, was also synchronized to the grid about 10 hours ahead of schedule.
Commenting on the latest move, Steag State Power operations head Eric Pasia said, "Unit 1 achieved full load of 105MW at around 1745hrs of November 4."
The precarious power supply condition in Mindanao is expected to improve with the full capacity operation of Steag’s power plant.
The operations of Mindanao Coal-Fired Power Plant’s unit 1 are expected to improve the unstable power supply condition of the island.
Steag said its power plant has sustained an availability rate of 93.3% and a low unplanned outage rate of less than 1% over a period of six years of operations.
