The unit was temporarily closed down for 24 days, during which over 13,000 activities were performed on the facility including equipment upgrades, safety inspections, tests, and plant improvements.
Braidwood Site vice president Dan Enright said, "The replacement of the main power transformers and the other work completed during the outage will help ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of Unit 2."
The unit began its scheduled refueling outage on Monday, 15 October.
Located about 96.5km southwest of Chicago, the Braidwood Generating Station has two units together producing 2,300MW of electricity which is sufficient to power over two million average homes.
