The RK-21 directional well has a planned total depth of around 1,825m measured depth (MD) and 1,750m total vertical depth, and the well is the second one for Cub to drill on the RK license.
The well has been drilling to target the middle Miocene Dorobratovskaya and Badenian sands, which are locally referred to as the D-1 through D-5 and B-1 through B-5 sands as seen in the firm’s RK-2 and RK-6 legacy wells.
Wireline logs and tests in the RK-21 location have indicated gas in both the D and B series of sands, said Cub.
To drill the RK-21 well, Cub has contracted with Esta Well Services, while it is expected to take around 35 days to reach the planned MD.
JSC Tysagaz, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cub Energy, is the operator of the RK-21 well.
