The programme, contracted to Fugro-Geoteam, will carry out a 3,500km2 survey in water depths ranging from 30m up to 2,000m, and complete within 90 days.

Chariot Oil & Gas CEO Paul Welch said, the company is happy to be able to start the survey just after the acquisition of the licence.

"This is largely due to the support provided by the Ministries of Environment, Fisheries and Energy and it is this spirit of cooperation that makes Mauritania such a great country in which to conduct our business," he added.

The 3D seismic operation is part of the company’s initial three year work commitment within Block C19 and it focuses to identify structural and stratigraphic traps, especially for large trap sizes.

After the acquisition and process, the survey will be interpreted to define drillable prospects, the company said.
