Westpower owns and operates the electricity distribution network on the West Coast of the country and supplies electricity throughout the region.
Electronet, the wholly owned subsidiary of Westpower, has currently undertaken prefeasibility studies and project scope for the Waitaha Project.
The project is a 16-20 MWrun of river hydro scheme on the Waitaha River.
The Waitaha Scheme is projected to generate 110-120GWh annually and provide enough electricity to service about 25% of the West Coast’s energy needs.
