The panels will be owned by Midwest Energy members throughout central and western Kansas.
To be located within the Midwest Energy service territory, the 4,000-panel solar garden making renewable energy ownership will be available to all of the company’s 50,000 electric members.
Customers will get credit for the power produced by their panels directly on their Midwest Energy electric bills.
Midwest Energy board of directors chair John Blackwell said, "Our customers have signaled they’re supportive of renewable energy, and we’re pleased to bring this solar ownership opportunity to them."
CEC’s PV arrays have been designed for maximum power production and lifespan and are said to deliver the lowest possible price for renewable energy.
Midwest Energy members purchase the panels directly from CEC and then buy the power from CEC, while it provides a credit directly to the member’s bill.
