The city authorities have granted approval for development of the array at Queen’s Drive Park & Ride, while the second canopy would reside at Colwick Racecourse Park & Ride.
Both the structures are expected to start construction at the same time and are expected to be completed by April 2015.
Nottingham Energy and Sustainability City Council Portfolio Holder Alan Clark said harvesting power from the city’s urban energy farms means that it can gather a large amount of sustainable energy for the city.
"This not only boosts our reputation as being the UK’s most sustainable and innovative energy city, it will provide locally sourced energy for local people," Clark added.
Queen’s Drive site will house 4,000 panels and the city plans to mount 3,000 panels at Colwick, both would cover a total are of about 10,500sqm and generate income of £121,000 per year.
