Scope of the contract includes construction services to be offered by Thiess at BMA’s Caval Ridge Mine Project in the Bowen Basin, Central Queensland.
Construction of coal preparation plant (CPP), within a coal handling and preparation plant (CHPP), and a rail loop and holding roads that also feature earthworks and excavation are also part of the contract.
Delivered by Thiess’ specialist industrial projects team, the CHPP construction will cost $125m, while the rail contract entails a cost of $95m.
Thiess managing director Bruce Munro noted that the company has already begun work on major site preparation and drainage works at Caval Ridge.
"The addition of the CHPP and rail facilities further showcases our offering to clients," Munro added.
The company will also undertake track laying and installation of signalling, overhead power and communications systems.
