Echelon chairman and chief executive Ron Sege said the firm has shown successful trials through its partner ELO in the Brazilian market which represents "a large and attractive opportunity".
"We are successfully targeting growing markets, applying our power line communication and Control Operating System (COS) software and laying the groundwork for a multi-application edge-of-the-grid solution with high profile local partners such as ELO," Sege added.
ELO Business Development VP Marcos Rizzo stated, "We believe that basing our smart meter on the industry standard Open Smart Grid Protocol (OSGP) and our system solution on Echelon technology enables us to uniquely deliver improved quality of service, reduce peak demand and operational costs, and protect revenue for our customers."
