Reuters cited a Chevron senior executive as a saying that the Energy reforms in Mexico offers international oil companies with a range of attractive investment possibilities in Latin America’s second-biggest economy.

At an event in Mexico City, Chevron’s Houston-based head of exploration and production for Latin America and Africa Ali Moshiri said, "There’s tremendous opportunity here."

The two firms will explore opportunities in deepwater, shallow water or shale, Bloomberg reported.

"We are not here to change their strategy. We are here to complement what they are doing." Moshiri added.

"As soon as the secondary laws pass … then we can basically take that information and then look for the opportunity that meets our economic requirements."
