Under the first project, Areva will expand the used fuel assembly wet storage facility which was built by the group.
Areva will also upgrade the electrical and instrumentation and control (I&C) systems of the emergency diesel generators.
To hold more than 1,000 fuel assemblies, the existing interim wet storage solution will be modernized to by Areva to double the capacity.
The company will also provide greater flexibility to Gösgen with for used fuel management.
Additionally, as part of the modernization of the electrical and I&C systems, Areva will install digital Teleperm XS I&C technology at the plant’s four emergency diesel generators.
Currently, the Gösgen nuclear power plant meets approximately 13% of Swiss electric power needs.
