Based on the preliminary investigation, the fire in a vacuum gas oil hydro treating unit (VGO/HT) might have been caused by the leakage of hydrocarbon substance.

The company has managed to isolate the damaged unit from other units and no injuries have been reported in relation to the incident.
VGO/HT unit provides feedstock to crackers mainly for propylene production.

The refinery and petrochemical units have not been significantly affected while those surrounding the damaged areas have been temporarily shut down.

Currently, an investigation in to the incident is underway.

The company expects the overall production is unlikely to be substantially affected.

IRPC’s Rayong facility has a total capacity of 215,000bpd, which represents 21% of the country’s total refining capacity.

Thai oil and gas firm PTT holds 38.51% stake in the facility with other stakeholders, including the Government Savings Bank, Bangkok Bank and the Government Pension Fund.
