According to Energex, it has also completed an A$2.3 million upgrade at the Coomera substation in Queensland. The upgrade involved the installation of a second 25MVA transformer which is now benefiting local homes and businesses in Coomera, Upper Coomera, Cades County, Willow Vale and Pimpama.
The company has also completed construction of a new 11,000V powerline between Redbank Plains and Collingwood Park in Western Australia. The upgrade is expected to improve the power supply to more than 1,600 homes and businesses in the area.
The A$1.1 million upgrade involved the installation of around 3.5km of underground electricity cables and overhead powerlines between Energex’s Redbank Plains substation on the corner of Redbank Plains Road and Collingwood Drive, and Eagle Street in Collingwood Park.
Energex said that the project is part of a record $4 billion-plus five-year capital expenditure program currently being undertaken by Energex. In the 2008-09 financial year the company is investing around $830 million on upgrades to its electricity network while a further $340 million-plus has been set aside to maintain and operate the network.
