By using the USTDA’s grant, BTTR will carry out the technical and financial feasibility of a 25MW to100MW gas-fired power plant, as well as review options for generating renewable energy.
The USTDA said the Aktobe province requires additional energy generation to meet the demand for power in northwestern Kazakhstan.
The project will reduce BTTR’s existing grid power purchase to replace its line losses and provide additional power to Aktobe’s grid.
USTDA director Leocadia Zak said, "We are pleased that this study will address provincial power needs and encourage industrial development in Aktobe by assessing the potential of increasing gas-fired and renewable power generation."
BTTR was established in 2005 to address the demand for additional power supply in Aktobe province.
