Based on the priority list presented by Romania’s Commission for Emergency Situations, Petrom is in discussions with ElectroCentrale Bucuresti, ElectroCentrale Constanta, CET Galati, Termoelectrica, Termoficare Pitesti, Romanian Authority for Nuclear Activities and Dalkia Ploiesti.
Petrom said that it is prepared to supply around 70,000-75,000 tons of heavy fuel by the end of January 2009 and the same quantity during February 2009.
According to the company in 2007, the heavy fuel production of Petrom amounted to 737,000 tons. In 2008, the heavy fuel demand in Romania is estimated at approximately 480,000 tons and the market share of Petrom at around 50%, claims the company.
Discussions with the representatives of the companies interested in purchasing heavy fuel from Petrom are underway, added the oil company.
Petrom claims to be the largest Romanian oil and gas group, with activities in the business segments of Exploration and Production, Refining and Marketing as well as Gas and Power. The company exploits proved oil and gas reserves of 0.9 bn boe, has an annual refining capacity of 8 mn t and holds around 550 filling stations in Romania. It has also an international network of 257 filling stations located in Moldova, Bulgaria and Serbia.
