The company gained control of the Shirley Basin project as part of its acquisition of Areva affiliate’s Pathfinder Mines.
Ur-Energy president and CEO Wayne Heili said: "Based on the strength of this maiden resource we feel that the project has the potential to be Ur-Energy’s next production center in Wyoming.
"The Company is currently moving at a rapid pace to advance the data collection programs necessary to support amendment applications to the existing mining permits and licenses."
Shirley has 3,200 historic delineation drill holes completed by Pathfinder before it terminated mining operations on the project in 1992.
Ur-Energy said that Pathfinder’s historic drilling focused on two resource areas identified as the FAB Trend and Area 5, which have 1.9 million tons averaging 0.23% eU3O8 for 8.8 million lb. uranium, with 83% of the resource falling under the measured resource category.
