The energy company said that, the Byran wind project, located in Prince Edward County, Ontario, was expected to become operational by the end of 2010 and would produce clean energy to power more than 16,000 homes annually.
Kerry Adler, SkyPower’s president and CEO, said: “We are excited to have the opportunity to generate clean, renewable energy that will serve Ontarians in the future. Ontario’s environment, economy and future energy supply will be served by the Byran wind project.
In addition to the Byran Wind Project, SkyPower has executed 17 other contracts with the Ontario Power Authority over the past few years for the supply of both Wind and Solar energy under the Ontario RESOP program amounting in aggregate to over 160 MW of incremental clean renewable energy. These projects are at varying stages of development or construction across Ontario.
SkyPower is a renewable energy developer with interests in more than 200 wind and solar projects at various stages of construction and development across Canada and select U.S. states. Working with local partners, the company also has wind energy under development in India, and hydro projects under development in Panama.
