The Siemens SWT-6.0-154 direct-drive wind turbine features a modern direct drive generator, rated at 6MW and equipped with a 154m rotor.
DNV GL assessed the maturity of the turbine design; turbine’s manufacturing, installation and commissioning processes as well as related documentation, as part of the certification process.
The new 6MW machine, with tower head mass of 360t, is around one-third lighter than comparable systems allowing for improved economic viability across all project phases, from assembly to transport, foundations and installation all the way up to operation.
Each SWT-6.0-154 turbine is capable of providing up to 6,000 European households with clean offshore wind power and the development represents a significant step towards reducing the cost of energy.
