Vestas’ order for the Teso Santo wind power project, to be located near the town of Santiz in Salamanca, Castilla y Leon, is for 25 units of the V90-2.0 MW wind turbine. Meanwhile, the manufacturer’s order for the El Colmenar II project near the town of Finana in Almeria, Andalusia, comprises 10 units of the V90-3.0 MW wind turbine.
Both of the contracts will also involve supply, installation and commissioning, as well as a five-year service and maintenance agreement. In addition, both orders include a VestasOnline Business SCADA solution. The orders, which have a total capacity of 80MW, will add to Vestas’ existing wind generation capacity in Castilla y Leon and Andalusia.
According to Vestas, the Teso Santo wind power plant will produce approximately 140,000MWh a year, and reduce CO2 emissions by 80,300 tons per year. In addition, the El Colmenar II wind power plant will have an estimated annual production of 60,000MWh, which corresponds to annual emission savings of 34,400 tons of CO2.
In addition to the Spanish contracts, Vestas has received an order from the Alternative Energy North America unit of BP for 50 units of the V90-3.0 MW wind turbine. Delivery of the 150MW order will commence in Q4 2007 and Vestas will also supply and commission the 50 wind turbines, as well as carrying out a five-year maintenance and service agreement.
