Siemens revealed that that the wind power systems will have a total capacity of 108MW and added that Gunfleet Sands will be the third British offshore project in which the largest Siemens wind turbine with a capacity of 3.6MW is deployed.
The total investment in the offshore wind farm is approximately E270 million and construction is scheduled to begin in 2009.

This is the third time that Siemens and Dong Energy have collaborated on offshore wind farm projects. The companies previously worked together on the Nysted project in Denmark and Burbo Banks in Britain.
Siemens said that it is currently working on implementing the Lillgrund offshore project in Sweden and Burbo Banks off the west coast of Britain. Meanwhile, in 2008, Siemens will build Britain’s largest offshore wind farms at Lynn and Inner Dowsing off the east coast of England, which will have a maximum production capacity of 180MW.
