The Antelope-4 is the first of at least two appraisal wells planned on the Antelope field and is located about 1km south of Antelope-2. The second appraisal well in the licence Antelope-5 is scheduled to be drilled later in 2014.
Independent oil and gas company InterOil owns one of Asia’s largest undeveloped gas fields, Elk-Antelope, in the Gulf Province, and exploration licenses covering about 6,177 square miles.
Earlier in July, InterOil has suspended the Wahoo-1 well in PPL474 in Papua New Guinea (PNG) following discovery of gas and higher-than-expected pressures that could compromise rig safety.
