Under the €90m contract, Siemens will supply more than 100 switch panels, which will be installed in a total of five GIS for alfanar Construction, the general contractor responsible for building the stations for the state-run energy provider Saudi Electricity.
The contract scope also includes 111 single-break circuit breakers from the 8DQ1-GIS switchgear series which features a compact design and has a standard panel width of 2.20m, making it the smallest switchgear in the 380kV range.
Siemens will commence delivery of the switch panels, which will help meet Saudi Arabia’s growing demand for electricity, in the second half of 2015.
The GIS switchgear will be used by the five 380kV stations including Qurayyat, Tabarjal, Al-Jouf, Arar and Waad Al-Shamaal located in northern Al-Jouf region, Saudi Arabia.
Siemens will manufacture the 8DQ1 system at its Berlin switchgear facility.
