The facility, located approximately 20 miles northeast of Deming, consists of 28 units of Vestas V100-1.8MW wind turbine.
Each of the 28 turbines will be situated on an 80m tower, with a rotor diameter of 100m.
Tucson Electric Power will buy the electricity generated by the facility under a long term power purchase agreement.
The project’s output will be delivered via El Paso Electric’s existing power line that runs through the project area.
Mortenson Construction, a renewable energy construction contractor, is managing the power project.
Element Power is also developing a second phase of Macho Springs, which is located six miles to the north in Sierra County, and this phase has also a 50MW capacity.
