The basin has a well established oil infrastructure and producing tradition, which includes accessible pipelines and refineries, with the available oilfield equipment and services, and skilled labor. Smaller regional developers have been looking there lately for bypassed oil and gas fields with major potential to structure for the fading production.
The North-Kopanskoye is that type of field. Since two years, Karbon has attained Rosnedra’s consent for the field development basis in addition to environmental acceptance including SibNIINP’s developed norms for technological wastes and Rosteknadzor’s approval of the emission rates of air pollutants. Karbon has previously drilled and concluded one development well, put on production in 2007.
The company and Karbon have a well-functioning association with Russian and Western experience, expertise and technology, including in-country knowledge with direct access to key experts and operational organizations.
In Sequence with the existing plans to raise production rate and further expand the North-Kopanskoye oilfield, Karbon has negotiated the subsequent work agreements for 2009, subject to appropriate funding of the planned activities:
Russian companies Almaz service and ServiceNefteGaz to begin the work-over by mid-May 2009 on four accessible wells to improve oil production rates.
Russian companies Orenburg Drilling Company (OBK) and Orenburg Oil & Gas Exploration Drilling Company (ONBK) to mobilize by mid-May 2009 to drill and finish three new development wells.
Paradigm Ltd is to begin a 3-D seismic survey by the end of May 2009 to refine geologic information, rise in reserves and designate additional drill sites.
Karbon owns a two kilometer export pipeline tied to the GazpromNeft trunk-line that will facilitate pipeline transport of the entire North-Kopanskoye oil production.
