The turbines are destined for use in the Savignano wind farm in southern Italy. REpower Systems is currently already erecting 20 such turbines at this wind farm.
TRE&P, which is a subsidiary of Tozzi Holding for renewable energy projects, is the majority shareholder in Daunia Savignano. The company had already concluded two contracts last year with REpower Systems for a total supply of 31 wind turbines to project companies of TRE&P, 20 of which were destined for the Savignano wind farm.
The capacity of the Savignano project is expected to be expanded by 36.9MW from the end of 2010 via the 18 new turbines; it is planned that these should be commissioned by the first quarter of 2011. The wind farm will then have an output of 77.9MW. REpower is responsible for the supply, erection, installation as well as commissioning.
Per Pedersen, CEO of REpower Systems, said: “The excellent cooperation between our two companies so far is illustrated by the fact that we were awarded the subsequent contract for this project by Tozzi. We are delighted to have the opportunity to continue to further expand the cooperation with this technically accomplished and experienced partner in the area of renewable energy supply.”
