The term of the agreement is 15 years with a minimum anticipated throughput tonnage of four million tons of coal per year.

The majority of the coal that Massey plans to ship through IMT will be metallurgical coal originating from its Central Appalachia mines destined for the export market.

River barges will transport the coal from various upriver origins to IMT where the cargo will be offloaded and stored before being loaded onto ocean vessels.

In order to accommodate the additional tonnage, Kinder Morgan will expand the storage yard, add conveyor belts and environmental control systems, and make other improvements, which are expected to be completed by mid-2012.

Kinder Morgan Energy is a pipeline transportation and energy storage company in North America.
