If approved, the company will construct a double circuit 345kV power line from Westar Energy’s Wichita 345kV substation to a new substation just east of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, and then south to the Kansas-Oklahoma border.

Oklahoma Gas and Electric will continue the line from the Kansas-Oklahoma border to its Woodward substation, about 10 miles south of Woodward, Oklahoma.

The project is part of the Y-Plan that the Southwest Power Pool approved last year.

The high-capacity transmission line is expected to improve the regional electric grid by facilitating the addition of renewable generation to the grid.
