The French engineering group will retrofit six generators at units 7 to 12 of the coal-fired power plant.

Alstom said its generator retrofit will enable each unit’s capacity to be increased by over 20MW, as well as extend the lifetime of the units by 25 years.

The company’s Polish factory in Wroclaw will engineer, supply and supervise the installation of the generators.

Alstom Power senior vice president of thermal services Hans Meer said that the multi-contract modernization program Alstom is working on with PGE, is helping increase Belchatow’s output, cut its emissions and extend its lifetime economically and efficiently.
