Under the contract, Iberdrola IngenierÃa will build a facility to replace the existing 63-year old Salem Harbor coal-fired station, which is being decommissioned on the site, aimed at reducing CO2 emissions in the area.
Footprint Power is a project company focused in replacement of older and less efficient coal- and oil-fired plants with more efficient and modern power generation facilities.
Located approximately 30km from Boston, the new natural gas-fuelled facility will create approximately 600 jobs during its construction period.
The Salem CCGT plant, which can supply electricity to 280,000 people, will feature advanced technology and General Electric’s flex-efficiency to enable cleaner electric power to be generated in the area.
In addition to performing landscaping work upon completion of project construction, Iberdrola’s subsidiary will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the project, as part of the contract.
Iberdrola IngenierÃa focuses on engineering and construction work in the areas of generation, nuclear power, grids and renewable energy.
