Under the €150m contract, awarded by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) as part of the Brazilian Government’s Programme for Economic Acceleration, FEB will construct and operate the Canoas and Lagoa I and II wind farms, each with a capacity of 30MW, in Paraíba state in the north-east.
Iberdrola will manage the facility upon completion. This takes Iberdrola’s total number of the wind farms to 17 in Brazil, with a combined capacity of 511MW, supplying power to meet the needs of 770,000 households while avoiding the 800,000t of CO2 emission per year.
Iberdrola also operates the 150MW Calango complex, which consists of five wind farms, each with a capacity of 30MW and located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
The firm also operates the 90MW Caetité complex, comprising three 30MW wind farms in the state of Bahia.
The company operates the 20MW Mel 2 and 28MW Arizona 1 wind farms located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
