This early scheduled maintenance was due to the use of the plant’s own reserves, efficient preparations for the repair and modernization of equipment, excellent organization of labor and high qualification of the maintenance personnel.
The key goal of the maintenance is to ensure efficient and safe operation of the plant.
The maintenance will be carried out in three stages. Presently, the personnel is repairing and partly refueling the reactor, overhauling steam generator-1 and main circulation pump-1, repairing safety systems 1, 2 and 3, overhauling the high-pressure cylinder, repairing turbine generator TVV-1000.
At the final stage, from May 9, 2009 till May 12, 2009, the unit will be prepared for restart.
Special attention is paid to control of metal and welded joints.
Over 762 specialists and observers are involved in the maintenance. Representatives of contractor organizations – Atomenergoremont OJSC, Atomresursservice Ltd, Yuglecktro OJSC, Sevkavenergomontazh OJSC and GEM – are helping them during the campaign.
