The training sessions conducted in the US showed Indian officials how to reduce power loss and improve reliability, manage peak load, and enhance cost-effectiveness and sustainability of the production and distribution of electricity.

The officials from the Power Ministry, PowerGrid, Renewable Energy, and several state utilities in India attended these sessions, in addition to visiting US power utilities.

These participants learned how to utilize smart grid technology to integrate renewable energy to meet growing expectations of customers and regulators.

Smart grid training is a part of the Indian government, Power Ministry, and USAID’s Distribution Reforms, Upgrades, and Management (DRUM) program.
